Cottage Information

5-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom vacation home cottage located in beautiful West Point, Prince Edward Island. Walking distance to local fishing port, sandy beach, Cedar Dunes Provincial Park, and West Point Lighthouse.

     In the late 1790’s or early 1800’s, Angus Stewart left Scotland and began a voyage which landed him in West Point, Prince Edward Island.  There have been eight generations of this Stewart line, past and present, who have lived on property in West Point, Prince Edward Island.  The cottage is a replica of the home of Angus’ grandson, Big Philip Stewart, who is in turn, the great-grandfather of Audrey (Stewart) MacDonald and the great-great grandfather of Lynn MacDonald (Schweitzer), the owner/operators of the cottage.  The cottage was built in 1994/95 and opened as Stewart Memorial House Bed and Breakfast; its name and design a tribute to the family history.  We are now operating the property as a weekly vacation home rental and as such, the name has been changed to Stewart Harbourside Cottage.

     Inside the cottage is a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, etc.  Wifi internet, as well as a television with a DVD player and satellite dish are provided, but the main entertainment is enjoying the natural outdoors.  You can easily walk to the local fishing port and from there walk for miles on unsupervised sandy beaches in either direction.  Do not let our latitude deceive you: in the summer the beaches of the Northumberland Strait have the warmest water north of the Carolinas (http://www.tourismpei.com/pei-singing-sands-beach).  During the summer season, at Cedar Dunes Provincial Park, a very short drive or a reasonable walk away, you can enjoy interpretive programs and a lifeguard-supervised beach.  Within the park is the West Point Lighthouse, which is known to many around the world.
