Where to Book Online

Cottages in Canada

We regularly check our on-line presence and have found at least two sites are claiming to be able take reservations for us with which we have no affiliation.  We think it necessary to clarify the sites with whom we have registered to take bookings in order to protect people against possible scams.

http://stewartcottagepei.com is our main site.
http://www.facebook.com/stewartcottagepei is our official FaceBook Page.
http://www.linkedin.com/company/stewart-harbourside-cottage is our official page on LinkedIn.
https://twitter.com/StewartCottage is where you can follow us on Twitter.
https://plus.google.com/+StewartHarboursideCottageOLeary and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCx64yqV4KM4wHhhXdk_QOUg are where you will find our Google-related content.
You can find quick links to these social media sites at the top and bottom of each page of this site in the form of linked icons.

We have 6 sites through which you can book, each with different booking fees and services:

Cottages in Canada is where you can contact us directly.  The advantage of this method is that there are no additional booking fees.

If you feel more comfortable booking through well-known reservation sites, we are registered at the following:

Trip Advisor

FlipKey (Affiliated with Trip Advisor)

Home Away

airbnb

They each have different booking fees as well as varied cancellation and fraud protection policies.

Because the internet is a huge place with more than a few sites of questionable value, it is unlikely that we can find every place that is falsely claiming to be a legitimate booking site for our cottage.  But if you wish to see examples of what prompted the creation of this page, please continue reading.

If you search for us on Google, you might get results similar to the following:

I honestly do not know if these are legitimate sites or not.  I just know that we have no affiliation with them.  I do not know how they plan to book the cottage for you if we have no arrangements with them.  The first site marked in red leads people to believe that we are a bed and breakfast.  Even if they took a reservation and then used one of the other sites to really book the cottage, how upset would people be when there is no one there to cook breakfast for them?  The second site makes it look like the price was discounted by $100 by booking through them.  This annoys me to no end, because they just bumped the price up and then set it to what it actually is everywhere else.  It makes us look slimy.  Also, we have an agreement with one of the booking sites that no lower price will be offered anywhere else, so we just keep the price the same everywhere.  If you see a lower price than what is listed on this site, it is because it is given in USD, the prices here are CAD, and lately our dollar has been taking a nose-dive.  (American friends, you might want to take advantage of that…)

I guess the lessons here are to do your research and that it is possible to get scammed when booking on-line.  We are a single cottage in a rural place, and our booking information seems to be being used by illegitimate sites.  Even if staying with us is not in your plans for the near future, we hope this demonstration might help with whatever reservation you might make.
